‘Downton Abbey’ season 6: Michelle Dockery would love to do eventual movie

Mary -

In just a mere matter of minutes from now, “Downton Abbey” is going to continue the story of its final season with an episode that is hopefully going to bring to you a variety of interesting developments. For now, though, we are going to look even beyond that and beyond the upcoming series finale.

Is it possible that there will be a movie once all of this wraps? This is something that we’ve discussed before, stating mostly that we feel like the show is better suited to do something like a TV movie versus the big screen. Then again, we say this mostly as someone who doesn’t like to see a project jumping between various mediums. For continuity’s sake, it is better if they just pick one and stick to it.

Ultimately, though, we have no control over what someone in television wants to do with their property, and we at least know that executive producer Gareth Neame is at least interested in a film prospect. Now, we can also confirm that Michelle Dockery is also intrigued by the idea if the right pieces fall into place.

Speaking in a new interview with the Irish Examiner, the woman behind the fantastic Lady Mary passed along the following message when it comes to gauging her interest:

“I’d jump at the chance. It’s certainly not something that’s been discussed, as far as I know, but I’d imagine it would take very little for everyone to get involved.”

Dockery also added that there was a time after season 3 (the death of Matthew) where she considered moving on past the show, but thankfully, she decided to stick with it. Plenty of fans are thankful for that.
