Is ‘Madam Secretary’ season 2, episode 1 new tonight on CBS?

MadamTonight is the first official Sunday of the fall season! Who is ready to celebrate this very thing?

Unfortunately, what this also happens to be is the first time that CBS has confused some viewers with their programming schedule. You typically run into the NFL getting in the way at some point during the year, but tonight, we are not going to see “Madam Secretary” for one simple reason: “CSI.” The landmark series is coming to a close tonight on the network after more than a decade and a half on the air, and with this two-hour finale, it felt appropriate to shift everything else back a week.

Here is the good news at the moment: “Madam Secretary” will have fewer breaks n it this season as a result! While we wish the show would adopt the sort of split-season format that ABC does with “Once Upon a Time,” CBS doesn’t seem too inclined to do that. Therefore, we’ll probably be giving you more updates of this variety throughout the season.

For those of you who have not heard, the season 2 premiere of this show is going to feature Elizabeth McCord (Tea Leoni) in crisis. After Air Force One goes missing on an overseas flight, the government has to prepare for the worst, and that includes her having to even temporarily become President of the United States. The government has to prepare for the worst, after all; we don’t think she will keep the title for long, but it will be a big moment led by Morgan Freeman playing the Chief Justice.
