‘Fear the Walking Dead’ episode 5 preview: Is the military falling apart?

Poster -

While we felt that this past episode of “Fear the Walking Dead” was a little too slow in regards to its pacing, we do admit that we find what is coming up next to be very much fascinating. You are of course still talking about a zombie apocalypse, but also all of the various reactions and consequences that go along with that.

For the military, one of the interesting things to explore here is how long these soldiers can be tested. These people are with the National Guard presumably, and were never a part of this to round up non-infected people and eliminate others potentially at risk. It was not in their job description to be ruthless to Americans. That is why we are seeing one of them in the sneak peek below starting to think about taking off, and we cannot imagine this ending well for him.

Also, you have others who are taking different approaches to trying to handle those behind the fence. Take, for example, the situation below with Ofelia Salazar, who is trying for the most part just to help her mother. Is she really going to make any headway here? It’s doubtful, and we feel a little bit like her best hope will come as a result of her buying some time, and then waiting to make her move out if some of the soldiers start to turn on one another. After all, this seems to be something that could happen sooner rather than later.

We’ll be back tomorrow with a full review of this episode, and hopefully some more analysis to go along with it.
