Going into the series premiere of “Scream Queens” this past week, one of the biggest selling points was the presence of Ariana Grande as one of the more notable characters. The singer really has not acted much since the end of “Sam & Cat” on Nickelodeon, and there was interest in seeing just what she would be like as Chanel No. 2, one of the members of the infamous sorority at the center of the show.
However, many were probably surprised to see that, much like the case of a “Scream” movie, she happened to be the token big-name star who was killed off early. This is certainly rather sad news, but you can rest assured here that she will be turning up again before the show is over. Co-creator Ryan Murphy basically confirmed that on Twitter.
As for when you will get a chance to see her, Variety confirms that Grande will come back for Tuesday’s new episode, and she has filmed one more beyond that. There is also another appearance from her that is still to be filmed, as the show is still in production in New Orleans.
We do think that “Scream Queens” did a very good job for the most part this season delivering one big surprise after the next, but their biggest struggle now may just be ensuring that viewers continue to watch. We were somewhat underwhelmed by its 1.6 premiere rating in the 18-49 demographic, and it feels like that may need to at east stay steady if there is any hope of this lasting beyond the season.
