‘The X Factor’ UK preview: Davide Papasidero stays on his own planet

X FactorDavide Papasidero is one of the more interesting contestants we’ve seen on “The X Factor,” and to us, it doesn’t really matter if you are talking about this season or really even ever. He’s just a guy who lives within his own world, follows his own rules, and really does not seem to care too much what anyone thinks about it.

We’ll start at least by saying this: The guy has some serious guts. To try to put on some sort of performance art set to “Titanium” during bootcamp is no easy task, especially when so many people go out there and do the same exact thing, time after time, without really putting any thought into it at all. That’s boring, and the last thing anyone really should want to do on this show is be boring.

The funny thing here is that for the first part of his performance, we really didn’t think Papasidero was a bad singer at all. He hit the notes, and he was connecting well emotionally to the song. Things started to off the rails when he could get part of his outfit removed as a part of the performance, and then for some reason he started shrieking the last few notes. Hardly the best look in the world.

What we do wonder at the moment is this: Had this performance worked, do you think we would have seen him in the next round? Our answer is “probably,” if for no other reason than that it would give him a chance to really entertain on a Stevi Ritchie level.
