‘The Blacklist’ season 3 spoilers: The story for James Spader, Megan Boone in ‘Eli Matchett’

The Blacklist logo any seasonBefore the third season of “The Blacklist” started to even begin filming, one of our primary concerns revolved around whether or not we were going to see the show completely abandon the whole Liz-on-the-run routine at some point over the first episode or two in favor of a more familiar sort of storytelling. If you look at a wide array of other shows that are out there, you should be familiar at this point with the idea that these whole finale cliffhangers really are just the sort of thing that happen in the premiere and not long beyond that.

This is why we are pleased to report that at least this whole story for Megan Boone and James Spader’s characters is going to last for at least the first three episodes. The official synopsis below for the upcoming October 15 installment entitled “Eli Matchett” serves as all of the proof that you more-than-likely need and then some:

“Red (James Spader) and Liz (Megan Boone) take a detour towards the Midwest as part of their mission to exonerate Liz and defeat the Cabal. Ressler (Diego Klattenhoff), Samar (Mozhan Marno) and Aram (Amir Arison) continue to track the fugitives and in the process stumble upon what could become a global food crisis. Meanwhile, Cooper turns to an unlikely ally.”

Beyond our excitement over the whole story of Liz and Red on the run continuing, there’s really not too much else to go on in describing this synopsis. Basically, Liz and Red are going to find a new place to hang out, and at the same time Ressler and his team will be looking for them. So long as this story remains compelling, we’re fine with it taking up almost the entire season.
