‘Ray Donovan’ season 3, episode 12 (finale) spoilers: All about information

“Ray Donovan” is a show that likes to try out a variety of different layers. From one vantage point, you are looking here at a show that is about a man trying to fix the problems of many other people. However, when the dust settles you still have a show here about a guy who really has no idea how to fix himself, or anyone else in his family for that matter.

To a certain extent, the sneak peek below entitled “Cutting the Tree” is all about that subject, as a conversation between Ray and Avi is all about just how much in the way of information he can get from him, and also just how he can prepare for what is next.

Is this going to be the season finale where Ray is brought down? We feel ourselves feeling somewhat torn on this subject, mostly because while he is still the best when he is out in the field able to use so many of his signature resources, there is also something admittedly very intriguing about what would happen to him in the event that many of these were stripped away. Would Ray still be Ray if he was completely at the bottom? We’re probably not going to have an answer on that until Sunday night.

If nothing else, we know now that Ray’s entire family could be facing some jeopardy, and as a whole, this may be the most intense, dramatic finale that the show has given us so far. Let’s just hope that it meets some of the expectations that we have for it right now.
