‘Legends of Tomorrow’ spoilers: Does the latest addition have ties to Hawkman?

LegendsThe producers of DC’s “Legends of Tomorrow” certainly know a thing or two about making us wait … but to be fair, they also did not have much of a choice in some ways. This show began filming later than either “Arrow” or “The Flash,” with one of the biggest reasons being simply that it does not premiere until next year, and with this being a new show, you want to spend that extra time in pre-production in order to ensure that you are getting things right.

We know that time travel is going to be a huge part of this story, and the latest casting news solidifies that. According to ComicBook.com, Peter Francis James is being brought on board in a significant role as the character of Dr. Aldus Boardman. He is a professor at St. Roch University, and will have an understanding of the history regarding Hawkman and also Vandal Savage, the history-destroying Big Bad at the center of this new show.

James is actually going to first appear in the upcoming “Arrow” / “The Flash” crossover, which is about as close to a backdoor pilot for this show as you are going to get. If there was a giant superhero team-up that we were going to see across all of the shows, this will more than likely be it.

James is a daytime TV veteran, having appeared in “Guiding Light” and “As the World Turns.” He has also played a part in the “Law & Order” franchise.
