‘Doctor Who’ season 9, episode 2 spoilers: Guess who’s back for ‘The Witch’s Familiar’

“Doctor Who” season 9 started off over the course of this past weekend with an insane episode entitled “The Magician’s Apprentice,” one that featured a wide array of different surprises. We has the return of Davros, Missy actually working (sort of) alongside the Doctor and Clara, and an attempt to figure out if there was any stopping the latest attempt by the Daleks for mass extermination.

While we cannot confirm too much just yet about Saturday night’s “The Witch’s Familiar,” there is one thing that is official: Michelle Gomez will be back! The actress is featured in the new photo above for the episode, which shows her alongside the Daleks with a smile on her face. You really didn’t think she was gone, did you? Despite her and Clara being disintegrated in “The Magician’s Apprentice,” it felt easy to assume that something would happen to bring them back.

Now that this is out of the way, the biggest mystery that remains over the course of the upcoming episode revolves around The Doctor himself. Many of the teases that have been put out there by the BBC suggest that he will be facing temptation from some sort of great source, and we have to figure out just what that is, and also what it could mean for both his Companion and the Master.

If nothing else, it feels like there will be closure to the story this time around. Two-part episodes are being hyped as the name of the game for the upcoming season, and it doesn’t look like the BBC will be expanding into three-parters anytime soon.
