Before watching ‘Empire’ season 2 premiere, watch Jimmy Fallon’s ‘Tonight Show’ parody
Over the past few weeks, we have given Jimmy Fallon a little bit of flack for some of his weaknesses as a host. Now it’s time to give the guy a little bit of praise. What the host of “The Tonight Show” does better than any other host on TV is come up with random sketches that utilize his skills as a former “Saturday Night Live” cast member to the fullest. He and the writers are so good at coming up with these, and then making them so memorable that they generate millions of hits in a short amount of time.
After watching the new spoof for “Empire” below simply entitled “Jimpire,” we have to think that a similar phenomenon is going to be taking place once again. This is a completely silly but fun video that plays up some elements of the Fox show really well, whether it be Jimmy as Lucious Lyon to Higgins as Cookie. It is all completely over-the-top and ridiculous, and yet at the same time in works on some sort of bizarre level.
One other thing that probably helps it here are some of the star cameos who turn up over the course of the ten minutes. After all, you’ve got a brief little bit featuring star Terence Howard, and not long after that you’ve got a totally fun bit featuring Taraji P. Henson coming in and comparing her outfit to what Higgins is wearing.
We know that “Empire’s” season to premiere is going to be stuffed full of all sorts of great drama, and this is something that we’re going to be spending plenty of time talking about in the weeks ahead. Stay tuned for coverage!
