‘The Bastard Executioner’ episode 4 preview: ‘A Hunger / Newyn’ and comments

Sagal -

Here is the funny thing about “The Bastard Executioner“: After next week’s new episode “A Hunger / Newyn,” we will be almost halfway through the first season. That may be one of the few things that is funny about this show, given that for the most part we’re dealing with serious, deadly issues here.

While the promo for the next episode below gives you some great shots of Annora (Katey Sagal) and others, it really does not bring a whole lot else to the table when it comes to what is coming up. Instead, FX is taking a somewhat-curious strategy and hyping up some of the reviews that are out there for the show. This surprises us mostly because we don’t really think that the Kurt Sutter faithful really care whatsoever what most critics have to say. They watch a show merely because they enjoy it, and would love to get a sense of what is next.

Granted, it’s not like FX was ever that big on sharing much in the promos, anyway; we’d say that for the most part, this network even surpasses HBO when it comes to keeping things as secretive as possible about upcoming episodes. This has to be especially true here, given that you have a relatively short amount of episodes you are working with.

As for what we’d like to see, think along the lines of getting Annora and The Dark Mute factored in more beyond just some of their visions and destiny, and also seeing just what the inroad for Wilkin Brattle is going to be as he further continues his quest of revenge.
