‘The Big Bang Theory’ season 9, episode 2 preview: Penny meets Mandy; Sheldon’s heartbreak

Tonight, “The Big Bang Theory” did contain a few assorted surprises that were all for the most part about two storylines: Leonard and Penny’s wedding, and the Sheldon and Amy’s breakup. Despite Leonard and Penny having the big moment that many fans have dreamed of, the episode still ended with a sour note as they fought extensively over him kissing someone in Mandy, a woman who he actually works with. She didn’t know that part before the wedding.

So where are Leonard and Penny going to go from here? Based on the synopsis below, it looks like Mandy is going to enter the picture … and now that we know he works with her, we’ve got some extra context into why she would be showing up on this series in the first place:

“Leonard confronts the woman he kissed on the North Sea in an attempt to set Penny’s mind at ease. Also, Sheldon films a special episode of “Fun with Flags” after his breakup with Amy, and Bernadette feels guilty about withholding a secret from Penny.”

Overall, the show still has to continue to find a way to tackle sadness with humor, which is something that over time could get depressing. That is why we feel like “Fun with Flags” is coming back, even after we thought that it was over. This is something fun / silly to look forward to, even in the midst of the sadness. Hopefully, we’ll have a chance to see some more on this episode in the coming days.
