‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ season 7 spoilers: Show boss on more of Kensi – Deeks romance

We’ve come to learn on many occasions over the years that procedurals love to draw out the whole will-they-or-won’t-they dynamic for as long as humanly possible. Therefore, it would not have been the most insane thing in the world if “NCIS: Los Angeles” started off the seventh season with some sort of crazy attempt to split up Kensi and Deeks.

Luckily, we are glad to say that this is not going to happen with these two, at least at any point in the near future. Based on his comments to The Hollywood Reporter, executive producer Shane Brennan seems proud of the fact that these two characters are now together, and this is something that he really is looking forward to diving into more at some point in the near future:

“There’s some great, fun moments between Kensi and Deeks [in the premiere]. We are right into their relationship at this point. It’s not often that a show like ours that develops a romantic relationship between characters actually pays it off. We decided to grasp the nettle and see what it’s like to have two characters who are romantically involved declare their love and then work as partners within the team. We see them at home in Deeks’ house having breakfast together. You really get to see them living a life outside of the office — although obviously, because it is a procedural, they’re never far apart from the work that they have to do.”

While we don’t get the sense that the two parties are taking the next step at any point in the immediate future, we’re not as concerned about that thanks mostly to the fact that they are together now. Ever other development, while nice to see visually and emotionally, is an additional declaration of their love. Since we already know that this is there, we’re fine with being patient for whatever the show decides to do.
