‘Wet Hot American Summer’: Amy Poehler open for a season 2 (or ‘Second Day of Camp’)
While there have been several great comedies over the past year or so, but “Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp” still rises to the top of the charts when it comes to providing that perfect combination of being extremely funny and also extremely memorable. It’s not the sort of comedy that you watch and then just forget it.
Of course, there is some humor in the fact that we didn’t have the show for so many years, and therefore, we did not even know there was a possibility of getting more of it. Therefore, there was no real reason to ask for Netflix or someone to pick it up. Now that there is more of the show out there, that has clearly changed. Everyone wants more! We’re not sure if it is ever going to happen, but it is clearly something that is rather fun to think about.
While on the red carpet for the Primetime Emmy Awards tonight, Amy Poehler was asked by Giuliana Rancic of E! if she would be interested in diving back into this world again someday … and she would! There’s no real timetable for new episodes, but the great thing about doing this is that thanks to the enormous cast, it does not require too much from any one person. Heck, Bradley Cooper reportedly shot all of his work for the show in a matter of mere days.
For now, just be sure to continue to enjoy “First Day of Camp,” and we’ll see if Michael Showalter and David Wain decide that there is more camp that they want to bring to the table.
