ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 8, episode 1 video: Watch a fun Stana Katic – Nathan Fillion scene

While there are some dark times and serious moments coming on Monday night’s “Castle,” there’s also a nice dose of what you’ve always loved about the show thrown in as well: Sweet, funny moments between Castle and Beckett.

You’re probably not going to see much of Stana Katic and Nathan Fillion together in the premiere thanks to Beckett’s disappearance, but the sneak peek below gives you a taste of where the two are in their relationship going into everything that transpires. Beckett is preparing to officially be a Captain, and that means getting a chance to really lead a team and have additional responsibility.

As for Castle, this sneak peek is the confirmation you may have been waiting for that he is in fact moving over to being a private investigator once again after a brief stint doing it during season 7, and they explain the reason why pretty well: What else would he do working with the NYPD? He couldn’t just sit outside her office and bring her coffee all day long, and Ryan and Esposito are not suddenly going to become his muse. The show cannot impede Beckett’s advancement professionally just because it wants to keep the dynamic the same.

Don’t worry, though: As you will see during this episode, even if Beckett’s whereabouts are unknown for most of it, there are going to be plenty of opportunities moving forward for the two characters to work together, even if they don’t have an office in the same building anymore. We’ll have more on that tomorrow night.
