ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 8, episode 1 preview: Early story teases for ‘XY’

CastleThe “Castle” premiere is airing on Monday night, and as you start to prepare for “XY” to finally arrive, we have something for you that is somewhat of a treat: A few extra story teases to tide you over! We’ve had a chance to check out the first episode already, and while we are not going to give anything major away below, these are a few little tidbits to (for the most part) get you excited. There is a lot ultimately for you to look forward to seeing.

1. Those of you wanting a classic Castle – Beckett fun moment will not have to wait long; there is one within the first few minutes of the episode.

2. You’ve likely seen the promo art already about Castle and Alexis working together in the private eye business, and you are not going to have to wait long to see how some of that comes about.

3. You are going to get a chance to meet Hayley (Toks Olagundoye) through a variety of scenes, but by the end of the hour you may not fully understand her motives just yet.

4. Many past cases and mythologies are referenced at various times, with an infamous villain from the past making his presence felt. If you’ve seen the guest-cast list for this episode, then you already know who this villain is.

5. “XY” tells the story mostly from Castle’s point of view. What happens in the premiere will carry over to the second episode “XX,” and through Beckett’s eyes the picture may become a little clearer. Don’t expect all the answers by the time the hour is over.

On the negative, there is one thing that we find particularly egregious about the episode, but it’s not really related to anything that we’ve discussed so far. We’ll talk about that further on Monday.
