‘Big Brother 17’ live feed spoilers: Overnight tears and a look at what’s to come

LizLast night, the lineup was officially set in stone for the “Big Brother 17” finale, at least in terms of the two people who are going to be competing for the final Head of Household: Vanessa and Steve. With him winning the second part late Friday, he at least ensures that he has a chance of winning the $500,000.

We get the sense at this point from Steve, whether it be in scattered comments or the HoH letter he wrote a while back, that he is very much aware of the fact that Vanessa would probably defeat him in any sort of final two scenario. Therefore, his mission is just to prepare to beat her in the last part, and then get to the end with Liz. Vanessa is of course telling him that they’ve both now made the final two 100% and that she is preparing to break the news to Liz and all of that, but we don’t really buy that for a second and neither should he. At this point, he’s smart enough to know that he can’t take her, right?

Let’s compare this quickly to what Derrick and Cody had last year. We feel like Cody felt more compelled to take Derrick because he wasn’t as aware of much of his wheeling and dealing, and it felt almost assured that they were going to be great friends long after the game. We’re not sure that it is so assured with Steve and Vanessa, and he also is more aware of most of her play. She’s an incredible strategist, but her weakness has been that she doesn’t know how to throw any competitions, and therefore has had to show her cards. Never want to do that in poker or “Big Brother.”

Last night, Liz also had a teary meltdown-of-sorts, apologizing to her sister Julia for not being able to pull this out. We feel like Liz may know, at least to a certain degree, that she is going to have a hard time winning the game.
