‘American Horror Story: Hotel’ video: Matt Bomer, Lady Gaga, Kathy Bates, more take you behind the scenes

With the premiere of “American Horror Story: Hotel” coming to FX on Wednesday, October 7, we are continuing to get a sense that FX is amping up their promotional efforts more and more. Today, that means in particular getting a chance to go deeper into some of what the cast has to think about this world.

The video below is about as panoramic a look at the new season as you could possibly hope for, with us getting a chance to see Lady Gaga, Matt Bomer, Sarah Paulson, Finn Wittrock, and many other familiar faces all sitting down and talking about what is coming up, the setting of the Hotel Cortez, and the various things that go bump in the night. As Paulson mentions specifically, this is going to be a particularly bloody season, and for those of you who like terror, this is especially a great thing.

We never quite know how to judge a season of this show before it begins, mostly because every one of them tries out something incredibly ambitious and then hopes that it all comes together. We do feel like the past two years have been at times burdened with an incredibly huge cast, and that has caused things to get a little bit difficult to balance when you get around to the midway point.

If there is one thing that maybe this season is doing differently, it is that they seem to be giving you the enormous cast almost right away, and maybe things will be narrowed down a little bit over time. That is at least our hope, since we want everyone at the end to be characters we are supremely invested in.
