‘The View’ loses even more sponsors over Joy Behar ‘nurse’ comments
Clearly this is not party time over on “The View”; after all, Party City is one of the latest sponsors to at least suspend their advertising during the ABC show over some comments that Joy Behar made about nurses earlier in the week.
Specifically, Party City, Snuggle and McCormick are all out for the time being according to TMZ, responding to concerns from show viewers who felt that the comments from Behar were offensive. The show panelist, along with Michelle Collins, were making comments regarding Miss Colorado Kelly Johnson’s speech about being a nurse during the talent portion of the Miss America Pageant. We feel like the comments were meant in jest, but made without really thinking of how they could be interpreted. Behar and Collins have since apologized profusely, and the show even aired a segment on Friday lauding nurses for some of their contributions.
The real irony here is that just a month ago, we weren’t even sure Behar was ever going to go back to her former show, and now she is embroiled in a controversy that has really taken over the news cycle. We have a hard time thinking necessarily that this is going to bring down the show, but it does show once again that you have to be completely self-conscious over the sorts of comments that you make.
The show will go on for “The View” in the coming days, and it is still to be seen whether or not the subject of nurses will be brought up once again.
Do you think all of this hubbub is merited, or has it gone on far too long at this point? Share right now with a comment.
