‘Twin Peaks’ spoilers: Amanda Seyfried signs on for mysterious role
When you are bringing back a show like “Twin Peaks,” we imagine that you have almost anyone knocking at your door hoping to be a part of the show. This includes some potentially big-name people like Amanda Seyfried.
Per TVLine, the actress (who last had a major TV role on HBO’s “Big Love”) is going to have a significant role in the Showtime series, and it is a new character as opposed to a recast or a remix of someone you saw before. Production is taking place in the Pacific Northwest, and there are a number of things that make this different from almost every other TV series currently out there.
1. Mark Frost and David Lynch are writing the entirety of the series, which has no definite length yet but will be longer than the nine episodes previously announced. Having showrunners pen every episode is relatively uncommon in American television, though a frequent occurrence over in Great Britain.
2. Lynch is also directing every episode, which is an insane thing for a drama series that almost nobody does. Cary Fukunaga is one of the few notable examples of this; he directed every episode of “True Detective” season 2, and rumor has it that there were clashes behind the scenes with him and creator Nic Pizzolatto.
3. The showrunners have already issued a plea to fans to steer clear of the set, and try to not post spoiler pictures. The claim here is that this inhibits their creative process, and we are certainly sure that it does.
We’ll have some further casting news as more is announced for the new series, but it is fair to say that people are excited for this.
