‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 7 spoilers: Paul Wesley teases Caroline’s mindset towards Stefan

The seventh season of “The Vampire Diaries” is premiering on The CW on October 8, so what better chance is there to start talking about some of what this franchise is really known for in romance?

With Elena seemingly gone until whenever Nina Dobrev wants to return (if she wants to return), we are now in a situation where Stefan and Caroline are now the two main characters, and the ones who are going to experience some of the trademark ups and downs. There are certainly many reasons why they would be struggling right now, in particular because Caroline is still learning to deal with death. Given how long Stefan has been around, he probably has learned how to handle this so much easier.

In speaking on this subject to TVLine, series star Paul Wesley makes it clear that for Caroline, she is going to have to learn to let go from what happened to her mother if she is going to be open and ready for love:

“Caroline wants to be with Stefan, but she’s also trying to do the right thing by herself, taking the time to mourn her mother’s death so she can enter into this relationship with a clean state and a free mind. The heart wants what it wants when it wants it, so we’ll see moments where’s she’s struggling, wanting to say something but not knowing what to say.”

One other mystery out there for “The Vampire Diaries” is just what the show plans on doing when it comes to Candice Accola’s pregnancy. While they do not have to write it into the show, they may have to plan to write Caroline out of the show for at least a little while.
