‘Madam Secretary’ season 2 spoilers: Problems ahead for Elizabeth, President Dalton
One thing that you do have to be aware of within the world of politics is that not everyone is going to agree, even if they are a part of the same cabinet. You may not see it as often, but that is mostly just because these sort of arguments are not typically the ones that make it into the press.
This is going to be one of the key subject matters for the second episode of “Madam Secretary” season 2 (airing October 11) entitled “The Doability Doctrine.” As the synopsis below gives away, we’re going to see some issues that arise when Tea Leoni’s Elizabeth chooses to not listen to some of President Dalton’s advice while dealing with a matter in Afghanistan. Also, one of the most well-known Secretaries of State in history in Madeleine Albright is going to be stopping by for a cameo:
“After Elizabeth receives advice from former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, she chooses to ignore President Dalton’s recommendation on how to negotiate the safe return of a State Department employee who was kidnapped in Afghanistan. Also, Henry must find a way to persuade his student, Dmitri (Chris Petrovski), to spy for the U.S. government.”
While we are already two episodes into reading “Madam Secretary” synopses (hardly a big sample size) one thing that we like is that the focus seems to be a little more on politics than family life. Much like “The Good Wife” or even “The Mysteries of Laura” last year, we feel like it takes a little bit of time for many shows to realize that ultimately, seeing the main characters on the job is typically far more interesting than what they are doing away from it.
