How about this for one of the biggest surprise castings for the 2015-16 season? While she is not sticking around in a permanent capacity seemingly, we are going to see Megan Fox coming aboard “New Girl” for several episodes. While she is not replacing Zooey Deschanel per se, she will be around primarily while the actress is off on maternity leave.
In a statement, executive producer Liz Meriwether had the following to say:
“It’s insane to me that such a gorgeous person can be so funny, but I guess we just all have to accept it … I’ve been a fan of her comedic skills since This is 40, and I’m so excited to have her on the show. We had Megan in mind when we wrote this part — she’s the perfect person to come in and shake these guys up.”
According to a report from TVLine, Fox is going to be playing the part of Reagan, a woman working as a pharmaceutical sales rep who comes to Los Angeles on business. She stays in the infamous loft while there, and while Jess is off sequestered in jury duty. The same claims that she will be making her first appearance of the season come the sixth episode.
Just in case you are wondering why she is not there right away, the simple answer is that for the first five episodes (premiering in January), Deschanel filmed scenes earlier this year before giving birth. The show took advantage of every opportunity they could to prepare so that she could have the time away that she needs, and episodes would all still be made.
