‘Luther’ season 4 spoilers: First look at Idris Elba in two-part event

Luther -

If it feels like it has been a long time since you’ve seen “Luther” on the air, there is a reason for that: It has been. The Idris Elba – BBC series has not been on the air since July 2013, and it was hard to even remember that there was anything still to look forward to with the show.

In some ways, “Luther” is becoming the new “Sherlock.” Elba and writer Neil Cross can get back together whenever they want to make more, and then move on to other things such as wondering if Elba can be hired as the next James Bond. The image above comes from BBC America, and it is a first look at a two-part season 4 event coming presumably a little bit later this year. (There is no premiere date yet, so be aware that this could change.)

In addition to releasing the sneak peek, the network also released a short teaser of what you can expect from the show story-wise:

“Luther’s back. Pitted against his most chilling adversary yet, haunted by the ghosts of his past and hell-bent on retribution, he’s drawn into a terrifyingly complex case that pushes him closer to the edge than he’s ever been.”

Judging from the photo (who is he hiding?), that seems to very much be the case. This is going to be an intense story with typical twists and turns, and also a little bit of the show’s trademark moral ambiguity. We hope that after this, “Luther’s” cast and crew continues to feel as comfortable as they can to continue to make new episodes when they want.
