‘Downton Abbey’ season 6, episode 1 spoilers: Premiere scoop on Michelle Mockery, Hugh Bonneville, cast
The premiere of “Downton Abbey” is going to be coming up on ITV Sunday night, so why wait for some of the first details in terms of what we can expect? The network released its first synopsis of the season on Tuesday, and it gives us news in regards to Mary (Michelle Dockery), Violet (Maggie Smith), Mr. Carson (Jim Carter), Robert (Hugh Bonneville), and more. Take a look:
“Mary’s past catches up with her when an unwelcome visitor delivers an ultimatum, and news about the running of Downton Hospital puts Violet on the warpath. Friends of the Crawleys, the Darnleys, have been forced to sell their ancestral home, and Daisy’s good intentions at the Mallerton House auction have disastrous consequences.
“With friends in debt and fashions changing, Robert is feeling the pressure to make staff cutbacks at Downton. Carson is concerned that Mrs Hughes is having second thoughts about their impending matrimony, and judgement day finally arrives for Anna and Bates.”
While it may not seem like it, the story regarding the Darnleys may be the most important of all here. After all, this signifies that the show is nearing the end of the family estate era, which suggests that there is only so long that an institution like this can last within this world.
As for Carson and Mrs. Hughes, we still have every reason to hold out hope. Why wouldn’t two people like this come to make it in this world? We have nothing to do at this point other than believe, which is what we are going to continue to do in them … and the same goes for Mary’s love life.
