‘The X Factor’ UK review: Monica Michael, Rumour Has It, Vicki-Ann Nash, Charli Beard perform

X Factor -We’re back with the third week of “X Factor” UK auditions, and the challenge for the show remains the same: Creating some more big moments that we as viewers will actually remember. At the moment, we’d say that Josh Daniel is the only huge performance that we will keep with us the rest of the season.

Papasidero – We thought this was completely insane, but here’s the thing: Other than those falsetto notes that were beyond terrible, he really wasn’t that bad. We’re not sure he is going to go anywhere this season, but a decent audition.

Alex Boye – Maybe this is why Alex didn’t get through on “America’s Got Talent”? We want to think that there’s some huge global conspiracy that this is where he is meant to be, but we don’t really think that this is the case. He’s probably just a hard sell over time since there is so much energy going on here.

Rock & Rose – They had almost no personality before performing, but then they opened up and became something special. The woman in the duo sounds a little like an edgier Ellie Goulding. Why don’t they smile more? The personality part of this could hurt them moving forward.

Jade McGuire – The former singer in Pop produced the best audition at this point in the episode; her voice was just soulful and surprising, and that made us smile. As for the whole “this is my last shot” story, we still find that somewhat off-putting and we wish the show would stop presenting themselves as the end-all for singers over the age of 25.

Silver Tone – They’re from a gospel choir in London, but their first song choice didn’t make a whole lot of sense. Yet, when they came back with more of an actual gospel flair to their performance, they proved that they were something really worth keeping.

Bekln – Look at that! Another group that came out of the same choir! They did a better job of picking the right song, and coming out with that right away. They really stood out, and had a great presence on stage.

Charli Beard – “A Change Is Gonna Come” is no easy song to audition with, and Charli nailed it! This was a great way for the 17-year old to introduce herself, since it showed just what she could be capable of if she does make it to the live shows. Suffice it to say, she may be going places!

Vicki-Ann Nash – Another impressive audition! We’re going to be honest: Other than maybe Alex and Bekln, this show was really all about the women. See more of why below.

Rumour Has It – The girl group is back in action! They originally were a part of the show last season, but they just didn’t have the time to get to know each other as a group. This felt more like their true coming-out party, and it just goes to show that there is some value in sticking together after the show ends.

Monica Michael – At the moment, we’d say that the choice is really between her and Jade for the best performance / TV moment of the episode. For Monica, this was in part all about redemption, and us it feels almost certain that she should get through to judges’ houses and possibly even the live shows at this point despite what happened at the six-chair challenge last year.
