Is ‘Rizzoli & Isles’ season 6, episode 13 new tonight on TNT?

Last week, “Rizzoli & Isles” certainly decided to end the summer portion of the season with some surprises. “5:26” was the title for their big finale, and it proved to be one of the most intense episodes that we’ve seen. Jane spent much of it spiraling in paranoia, thinking that someone may be out to get either her or Angela.

However, as it turned out the person who was really in the most danger was Maura, and the finale ended with her being captured. That is the cliffhanger (as you can see in the video below, just in case you want to relive that for some reason), and it’s a pretty insane way to end a story that is not going to be coming back on the air for some time.

There is no announced premiere date right now for the airing of the final six episodes other than “winter.” In the past the show has returned in February, and that may be the most likely scenario for it. However, we’re also not ruling out the possibility of it starting earlier in January; it’s really up to the discretion of those who work behind the scenes at TNT. We know that the show is still certainly lucrative for them; the summer finale was the most-watched episode since the summer finale in 2014.

For those of you wondering why season 7 for now has a slightly smaller order, we’re going to present a theory for you here: Maybe for season 7 the network plans to air all of it in the summer. The ratings always drop in the winter, and this way they never have to deal with that. As we said, though, just a theory.
