‘The View’ begins new season with Joy Behar’s return, Elizabeth Warren interview, and more
After several months of headlines and rumors about who was or wasn’t coming back, “The View” returned Tuesday with a panel that is hopefully going to provide some stability to a show that really has not had any in quite some time. It needs something to get the average viewer interested once again, and it is still to be seen whether or not the show has figured that out entirely.
What we can at least tell you is that the show did a good job of bouncing around and giving many of their new panelists (Candace Cameron Bure, Paula Faris, Michelle Collins, and Raven-Symone) at least a few minutes in the spotlight. Also, we’d say that they also did a good job of bringing back Joy Behar into the fold after some time away. She always has strong opinions, and that is what you want.
Interview-wise, there were some good guests in between Elizabeth Warren and also Jason Sudeikis / Alison Brie on their movie promotional tour. It was nothing that blew us away in terms of redefining a television interview, but it was still solid.
As for what was a little strange, why not have Bure on stage at the beginning? It seemed like the show tried to justify it by saying that she is not going to be around all the time thanks to her role in Netflix’s “Fuller House,” but it also felt a little like maybe they didn’t want her there for the Kim Davis discussion during Hot Topics, thinking that the premiere was not the right place for a heated argument on the subject.
