Hillary Clinton to appear on ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’ September 16

NBCFor everyone wondering just when Hillary Clinton was going to make her first appearance on late-night TV since announcing her campaign for President, we now have an answer for you: Wednesday, September 16. The venue? “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.”

For all of those wondering if there is any sort of timing behind this scheduling move, the short answer to that is that there is. This is also the date of the second GOP debate, which means that Hillary can ultimately appear on TV after all of that ends and provide what she may consider an alternative to everything seen earlier in the night. We should make it clear, though, that this is probably not the place for reaction. Fallon’s show pre-tapes earlier in the day, before the Debate will have taken place on primetime TV.

Appearing on late-night talk shows is a time-honored tradition for many politicians, and we’ve already seen that take place this summer. It’s also going to continue in the coming weeks. Republican candidate Jeb Bush is one of the first guests for Colbert’s version of “Late Show Show” coming up tonight, and Bernie Sanders and Joe Biden are also going to be appearing over the next two weeks. While Biden has yet to confirm news of a run, this venue will be where he announces it … provided that this is of course his choice.

In going back to Hillary, we don’t imagine that this is going to be one of the most hard-hitting interviews of all time. “The Tonight Show” is a lighthearted show, and Fallon will probably just allow her to use the interview for whatever she wants to.
