‘Empire’ season 2 stars join LL Cool J, Amy Poehler, Jimmy Fallon as Emmy presenters
With the Primetime Emmy Awards coming up in a week and a half on Sunday, September 20, we are pleased that the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences are starting to make the list of presenters clear for the show.
Also, we’re pleased to see that for the most part, there is a good of parity here despite the show being on Fox this year. (Granted, the network does choose the host, and they have “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” star Andy Samberg hosting the affair this time.) Fox’s biggest show right now is “Empire,” and it should be no surprise that both Taraji P. Henson and Terence Howard are being called on present at least one category during the show. They’d be doing this even if they were not presenting at the awards show.
Also joining Henson and Howard among the first presenters announced are “NCIS: Los Angeles” star / frequent Grammy host LL Cool J, “The Tonight Show” host Jimmy Fallon, Maggie Gyllenhaal of “The Honorable Woman,” and “Parks and Recreation” great / frequent Golden Globe co-host Amy Poehler.
We imagine that more and more names will be announced in the coming days, and for the most part they will consist of familiar faces from popular shows. After all, this is going to be up against the NFL regular season, and you have to convince people that there is something more entertaining to watch here than something that they can probably watch at least on 50 other occasions at various times during the season.
