‘Poldark’ season 2: The first director and other news

For the most part in North America, today is a slow one in regards to TV news. After all, it is Labor Day, and the majority of folks out there are a little more interested in spending their time outdoors or clinging on to the last days of summer for dear life.

Luckily, there are at least a few more updates coming out of the UK when it comes to a certain beloved series of ours in “Poldark,” and we’re talking about directors as production is starting to begin on the ten-episode second season. As production company Mammoth Screen reveals on Twitter HERE, the first four episodes are all going to be directed by Will Sinclair! Will is a longstanding British TV director whose credits include “Misfits,” “Casualty,” and a certain standby known as “EastEnders.”

In America, it is somewhat unusual for a director to take on four consecutive episodes of the show unless it is something where the director really has control over the majority of the work. However, it is a little more commonplace for a series like “Poldark” in Britain. The first four episodes last season were directed by Ed Bazalgette, and the final four were done by William McGregor. Debbie Horsfield is the writer responsible for all eight episodes of the first season, which is also something that is fairly traditional of writers in Britain.

The new season is going to premiere more than likely in the spring of next year on the BBC. We’ll have further news as the stories start to come out.
