‘Bachelor in Paradise 2’ review: Carly Waddell – Kirk DeWindt shocker overshadows other breakups

CarlyWe knew that there would be some drama on “Bachelor in Paradise” Sunday night, mostly because this Rose Ceremony is really the show’s version of the Red Wedding. The herd was trimmed in dramatic fashion, and for the most part, we were not that surprised by the majority of the breakups that happened … with one real exception.

While there were some teases in some previous previews that something was coming when it comes to Carly Waddell and Kirk DeWindt, there was something about their breakup that was heartbreaking in all of the ways that the end of Ashley Iaconetti and Jared Haibon wasn’t. Mainly, we are talking here a little bit about how Carly seemed convinced that Kirk was her guy; while Ashley did at times have some huge proclamations about Jared, we still feel like in her heart, she probably knew that this may not be a relationship with any sort of long-lasting future. Carly was a blindside.

At the end of the episode, the stage was mostly set for what will be the final dates of the season. The only ones who remain are Justin and Cassandra (who basically just met, which makes them rather ridiculous), Samantha and Nick (Samantha’s actually still there!), Joshua and Tenley (who have managed to get through that trouble earlier this season), and then also Jade and Tanner (who have been together since the very beginning.

Entertainment-wise, most of the two hours were good, mostly in that we had so many people exiting! Dan’s exit was probably the best, if for no other reason than that he was so blunt about how he just didn’t have feelings for anyone there. Grade: B-.
