‘America’s Got Talent’ preview: Piff the Magic Dragon, Gary Vider, Paul Zerdin left to perform

AGTWhile at this point in “America’s Got Talent” it is somewhat predictable who is left to perform (it’s just a process of elimination), we thought we’d at least get up another article today sizing up the field before getting specific with our rankings on Monday. There’s a pretty wide array of talent left, and they really do cover several different categories.

Here is the field for Tuesday’s show as a whole: 3 Shades of Blue, Alicia Michilli, Alondra Santos, Daniella Mass, Freelusion, Gary Vider, Paul Zerdin, Piff the Magic Dragon, Sharon Irving, the Professional Regurgitator, Uzeyer Novruzov. You’ve got several singers, a band, a magic act, a ventriloquist, a comic, a bizarre novelty act, and a circus performer. What’s not to like?

We’re not sure there is a super-firm favorite among this group at the moment, though we will say that if Piff manages to bring it and deliver something truly great Tuesday, he may rise once again to our #1 favorite to win the whole competition. He’s got that perfect combination of magic chops and humor that we really enjoy on this show, and clearly many others do given that he advanced despite not the best feedback in the world.

The acts who probably really have something to prove are the singers. There are four of them, and we imagine that at most two of them are going to get through. They are going to have to pick really smart, interesting songs, and do things that have never quite been done before. If they pull that off, then there could be a chance we see more of them in the finale.
