‘Big Brother 17’ exclusive: James Huling on double eviction, allegiances, and pranks
At this point, it is hard to argue that James Huling is a popular figure among “Big Brother” fans. He played the game really aggressively when he was in power, and he was a lot of fun to watch on the live feeds.
Unfortunately, he just fell victim this season to being on the wrong side of the numbers, and he really could not recover once he found himself in jeopardy with an entire alliance against him. We had a chance to ask James a handful of questions via email (just like we did with Meg earlier). We couldn’t ask anything that would tamper the results of the season, so keep that in mind as always.
CarterMatt – So many people struggled during that Veto Competition in the Double Eviction. What made it so hard in that moment to score successfully?
James Huling – I think it came down to the pressure. It’s not like the game was hard, it was the double eviction, nerves were involved, and you have so much riding on those shots that it really does come down to a crap shoot.
Was it hard for you to be as excited about playing the game after Meg left?
No. I knew once Meg was evicted, that if I would have won the veto for that double eviction I would have been fighting the whole house. All my troops and allies were gone. I was one duck sitting in a huge pond with duck hunters all around me.
Why do you think you and Meg were singled out as targets by Vanessa?
Vanessa had allegiances with Austin and the twins and I was the easiest to go after because Vanessa knew Meg didn’t win competitions so there would have been minimal repercussions to attacking my group over Liz’s group. Meg was the casualty of me winning a veto. Game wise it didn’t make sense for her to take Meg out but that let me know she had bigger allegiances in the house.
You had a lot of fun this season pranking people in the house. How much of your strategy was taking part in these little moments and trying to entertain?
That was me just having fun in the Big Brother house, enjoying my summer and doing what I do best, But it did help bring me a little closer to the [houseguests] because they see me as this funny and comical guy.

We do want to give props to both Meg and James for being candid and open in the interviews today, and taking a little bit of time to respond completely. We know that it can be hard to do when you’re still dealing with the emotions of the day before.

I think the fans overrated him but overall he is a good guy. Thumbs up. :)
