Ellen DeGeneres talks to Caitlyn Jenner on ‘Ellen’ season 13 premiere

Ellen -

While later this month marks the time for many season premieres across primetime TV, a good percentage of your daytime favorites are starting back next week … and that includes “Ellen” for its 13th season on the air.

Given that daytime shows do love to book extremely big names for their premieres, can you really be that shocked that Ellen DeGeneres managed to book Caitlyn Jenner for hers? She has become at the center of the transgender movement over the past several months, and is the most famous person to speak out for their rights. She’s received the Arthur Ashe Courage Award at the ESPYs, she has a show on E! in “I Am Cait,” and of course there was that Vanity Fair cover story.

We know that in the season premiere Ellen and Caitlyn are going to talk about a variety of topics, from her courage to the public reaction to of course her famous family. Ellen is also going to press her on a few issues, as well, including her stance many years ago on same-sex marriage, and how Caitlyn’s opinion has changed on the subject over time.

This interview is the first one Jenner has given on a daytime series, and we certainly expect it to be one that generates huge ratings for Ellen’s show. While “I Am Cait” is not the ratings juggernaut that it was during the premiere, it is so much easier for someone to sit down and watch an interview on a daytime talk show than committing to something every week.

We’ll have more on this interview if there is anything notable to report; you can watch a sneak peek for it below.
