ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 8 spoilers: First details on Stana Katic – Nathan Fillion story in ‘XY’

You’ve seen promos and other assorted scoop right now on “Castle” season 8, but today we’ve got some of the first real news on the story for the September 21 premiere “XY.” It’s not lengthy, but the short synopsis below via SpoilerTV packs some sort of impact:

“A call from a mysterious stranger ignites an explosive chain of events; the story is first told from Castle’s perspective as he searches for Beckett.”

Could the “mysterious stranger” be newcomer Hayley Shipton? That is something we have to consider, but if nothing else it appears that Stana Katic’s character could be missing in action for at least part of the first episode. This actually makes some sense, given that Katic was working on a movie around the time filming for season 8 first began. We do think she will still appear in the premiere, so don’t worry about that. Not only that, but she will appear as Captain Beckett for the first time, and will have a new sense of power and responsibility at the NYPD.

For those who have not heard, the story for the second episode “XX” is going to be told most likely from Beckett’s perspective, and it more or less cover the same exact course of events with more of a conclusive ending. It’s an interesting concept for a pair of episodes, but we do like it. If nothing else, it’s an innovative way for new showrunners Terence Paul Winter and Alexi Hawley to really start their reign being in charge of the show.
