‘Mistresses’ season 3 finale review: Joss finds herself in danger; Marc, April make their move
“Goodbye Girl” marked the end of “Mistresses” season 3 (and maybe the entire series) on Thursday night, and it was everything from crazy to depressing to crazy-depressing. We’re still trying to figure out how we feel about some of it, since at least a few reveals came out of left field.
Joss – The main event here is clearly the fact that Joss did not go on her globe-trotting trip with Harry cooking and pursuing her dream, mostly so she could go to Calista’s house and find out the truth about the basket, given that Calista seemed to sacrifice herself for friendship or whatever. Then, we get Wilson dressed like Calista and pointing a gun at her. Yep, that’s where we are ending things. Pretty horrible way to end this story if this is the end. They’re not killing Joss more than likely, but how do you get her out of this position?
Karen – Vivian’s dead, and now Alec and Karen have to figure out what to do now that their former three-way relationship now could only be a twosome. Really devastating, heartbreaking stuff, and it also came about at the last second. Too fast for our liking.
April – Hey, she and Marc are finally together! Someone’s getting a happy ending out of this. It took her long enough to come to her senses, but we get it: Marc did not exactly spend a whole lot of time as of late making himself out to be the most attractive suitor in human history.
Overall, we did still like the episode despite the fact that the ending was almost too crazy, and it seems like someone really shoehorned Vivian’s death and Marc and April getting together in there out of fear the show will be over. Yet, at the same time you leave Joss at gunpoint? Nuts. Grade: B-.

I seriously just wish that Joss would’ve gotten on that freaking plane! I knew it was Calista’s assistant the whole time though, so they could’ve been a little more creative with that. Also, I’m extremely upset that Karen’s “polyamoures” love affair is over! I was interested to see how that would’ve worked out, but maybe the writers didn’t want to take that too far in fear of running off some more “conservative” viewers (if that’s even possible) when the baby comes along. A satisfying season four premier would begin with the same scene they left us with, except someone else is there with Joss and Calista’s assistant. Joss’s lawyer happens to show up because he feels like something isn’t right after talking to her about the package she received (it just happens to be perfect timing) and as the gun it’s being pointed at Joss, there’s also a gun being pointed at the Calista wannabe. And behind that second gun stands Joss’s (way too handsome to not be made into a possible love interest) lawyer. The wannabe does down. Joss is once again in a state of shock and disbelief. The rest of her night will have to be spent at a police station with her lawyer (unintentionally bonding over the insane ordeal) which, of course, prolongs her plans with Harry. She’s unable to reach him until the next day when he arrives in Europe. His life is extremely chaotic at this point because for one, he’s in a new place, two, he’s extremely worried about Joss’s situation but there’s nothing he can do to comfort Joss because he’s under contract with the “motherloving” cook on a different continent. And three, to make matters worse, he’s having cameras shoved in his face the entire time. I suspect their first phone call to each other will instill a lot of fear in Harry because he will hear her lawyer in the background (whom Harry does not like as it is) and might just have a twinge of jealousy that he wasn’t able to be there to save Joss. This gives the lawyer a one up in the eyes of Mistresses fans, because right now, lets face it, we are all a little pissesd off that he left without her. Joss’s plans have changed now because Calista does end up “offing” herself, and guess who she leaves everything to? ?
