‘Big Brother 17’ review: Updating the double eviction live!
The Double Eviction on “Big Brother 17” came tonight with promises of drama … but we didn’t really get that in the first part of the vote.
The moment that we saw that Meg was evicted by everyone other than James, we thought it was a mistake for pretty much everyone other than Liz and Austin. (Vanessa wasn’t voting, so it really did not matter all too much to her.) Why did Steve and Johnny Mac do this? Vanessa’s manipulation is a big part of it, but the same here can be said for James and Meg’s inability to really campaign hard for her to stay. We still feel like Steve could’ve been swayed with a compelling enough argument, but that did not come.
Meg’s interview with Julie Chen was for the most part fun, and we do appreciate that she has a good outlook on the game. Still, we do wish that she fought harder during her time in there.
Head of Household Competition – Liz was the victor, and while it’s easy to do the whole “they should have kicked Meg” argument, we don’t know if she would have won unless losing Julia really rattled Liz and caused her to mess things up.
Nominations – Of course, James and Johnny Mac are on the block. Unless James wins the Veto, this is probably going to be a pretty predictable vote. It’d be super-cool to see someone make a big play on Vanessa tonight, but it’s unlikely.
Power of Veto – This was a pretty pathetic performance by basically every outsider of Austin’s Angels. Seriously. We wonder at times if these people are really just this content with being evicted from the game. James just didn’t even have a competitive spirit through much of this, and he looked defeated. Julia won.
Second Eviction – After Julia did not use the Veto, James of course went home unanimously and really looked even more defeated. He really didn’t campaign, and just accepted his fate on the way out.
Really, what is depressing us the most tonight is just that everyone seems fine with handing Austin’s Angels the final four. Steve, Johnny Mac, and James all had opportunities tonight to change the game, but they really couldn’t come through. Props to Vanessa for controlling everything, but it doesn’t make for as compelling entertainment. Grade: C.

This season started with so much promise but it has degenerated into a total bore with nobody wanting to get “any blood on their hands.” Just awful gameplay this season.

not watching anymore. Boring, predictable and the worst cast ever.
