‘The X Factor’ UK spoilers: Simon Cowell, Rita Ora categories revealed!
There is a big production every year around categories handed to certain judges on “The X Factor,” mostly because it often determines just how they are able to cultivate stars moving forward into the competition. Also, some categories tend to do better than others. Men tend to fare better in the public vote than women, and only once has the Groups category produced a winning act in Little Mix.
There is also a hierarchy that probably exists when it comes to the judges, as well. If you are a performer, you probably hope for Simon Cowell since many of his acts tend to do very well and have a good chance at success after the fact. Out of the four on the panel, he is the only one who helps to run a label.
This year the show did something a little different and had the public choose the categories, that way it was completely transparent and there is no fear of Simon getting to choose his favorite and then leaving the rest to the others. Here is what they decided.
Simon Cowell – The Overs. Again? We’d prefer to at least see him with a different group, but we imagine he will again work to make sure that they stay relevant and contenders to win the whole thing.
Rita Ora – The Girls. Given her own background, it makes sense; she knows what it takes to make it as a young woman in this business.
Cheryl Fernandez-Virsini – The Groups. Interestingly, this is the first time that Cheryl, despite being in a group in Girls Aloud, is getting the category.
Nick Grimshaw – The Boys. This is the real wild-card of the four categories, since the boys tend to last for a while, but have often struggled to produce any real success after the show.
