ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 8 spoilers: New premiere scene teases Hayley Shipton character

The “Castle” premiere is coming on September 21, and clearly someone over at ABC must have been hearing our pleas for more content of what’s coming up this season! (We at least like to think that’s what it is.)

Regardless of the reason, we are happy to say that the network has just released a new sneak peek from the episode “XY,” and we feel that more than anything else, this preview does a good job serving as an introduction to the Hayley Shipton character played by Toks Olagundoye. She is someone coming over from Scotland Yard, and she has a tendency to take very little lip and will break the rules when necessary to get what she wants.

What’s interesting about this preview, though, is that it does not feel like she is on the same page as any of the other characters, and proceeds to even go after Castle for a minute before Ryan and Esposito point their weapons at her. What’s going on here? We imagine that it is different than what it appears on the surface, given that she is a big part of both the premiere and much of the season. Early reports have her as a mentor to Alexis, and she should be involved in many cases on one way or another.

For now, we’ll say that we like that she has a strong personality, but with a preview this small, it’s hard to really have too much more of an opinion. We’ll need to check out a full episode before we make up our mind.
