Stephen Colbert, Jeb Bush, and the ‘Late Show’ premiere kerfuffle
We really cannot remember the last time we had a story like this one before a late-night show even premiere. Maybe that is in a way why we find this one so entertaining.
The video below from Stephen Colbert is one of the funniest things that we’ve seen him come up with during his hiatus from TV, and it started when one of his first guests in Jeb Bush started a campaign to hold a raffle, where the winner (a donor to his campaign) will get a chance to attend the premiere of “The Late Show” next week, and will also have a chance to dine with a key contributor to the campaign in New York Jets owner Woody Johnson.
Here’s the problem: Jeb never actually cleared any of this with Colbert, which is mostly just awkward since it’s his show. We’re not entirely sure this is necessarily something that is against any rules, but it has to be frowned upon, right?
In the video below see Colbert announce a new Omaze campaign where you can win tickets of your own to Colbert’s first show plus travel and accommodations. Not only that, but you get a chance to ask a question that Stephen may ask during his interview. There’s no guarantee there!
Ultimately, what we really feel about this video more than anything else is that it’s hilarious, and that it is a reminder that there are still many familiar elements to the Colbert that we saw on Comedy Central. (View his Omaze campaign here.)
