‘The X Factor’ UK: In defense of 4th Power after ‘controversy’
Stop us when this story sounds familiar: We’ve already got a good many people out there complaining about “The X Factor” and fairness after an act is revealed to have a pretty substantial history of performing on stage.
This time around, the act in question is group 4th Power, who drew rave reviews from Simon Cowell and the judges after they auditioned to “Bang Bang” on Saturday’s audition show. The sisters from the Philippines have appeared on numerous talent shows and already have a robust library of music out there. Therefore, are they really “undiscovered” at all?
We feel like at this point, the biggest problem with these talent shows and complains about talent is perception. We’re twelve years into “The X Factor” at this point, and gone are the days when you can find a supremely talented person who has no real experience. The market is saturated. That’s why more international contestants are being considered, and the same goes for performers with some history in the history.
Also, it’s not like the success of 4th Power overseas is going to help them make it into the live shows. That is at the discretion of the producers and not anyone voting at home.
Just for those curious, a source did tell the Sunday People that producers knew very well that the group had reality TV experience when they tried out:
“Producers were well aware who the girls were before they arrived in front of the judges – so it was no surprise that they were fantastic on the show.”
Now, we’ll sit back and await who the public / the press will complain about next. We feel like the better course of action for all will be trying to correct some sagging ratings.

just give them a chance. they wouldn’t audition in this show if they really really were that successful in their “history” of performing. Plus, they’re the reason this year’s X Factor is lively and not boring. In fact, they should win. They are different, unique than any who auditioned on that stage.
