‘Criminal Minds’ season 11 spoilers: See Aisha Tyler in first promo

In many ways, if you’ve seen one “Criminal Minds” promo, you more or less get the gist of what they are going for. This is a show that likes to hype up some of the drama and the despair of their world, and the shocking nature of some of the criminals.

Therefore, we have to say about 75% of the new season 11 clip below (first posted by TVLine) is more or less the same sort of stuff that we’ve seen before on other networks.

What makes the clip somewhat different is the presence of “The Talk” panelist and “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” host Aisha Tyler in the new role of Dr. Tara Lewis, a woman who has specific insight into stopping certain criminals. She’s going to help fill the void left by the departure of Kate Callahan (Jennifer Love Hewitt) after one season, and also help fill the void left by AJ Cook, who is on maternity leave for at least the first part of the season. Tyler’s consistently an entertaining presence, so we’re interested to see how she fits in particularly with this world.

The new season of “Criminal Minds” is going to premiere on Wednesday, September 30. The only reason it’s starting that late is because the finale of “Big Brother” and the 90-minute premiere of “Survivor” will be airing the week before. This is something that we’ve seen in one way or another on this show in recent years.
