ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 8 promo features Stana Katic, Nathan Fillion, danger galore

Remember when we said over the weekend that a “Castle” season 8 promo would be airing sooner rather than later? Well, “sooner” came Monday night, as ABC aired some of the first video footage that has been released, and it looks pretty darn exhilarating.

There are a number of great things about this promo, but let’s just tackle some of them piece by piece.

1. The celebration of Beckett’s promoting! She was ready for a change, and she’s now got it in the form of a new title. This does mean that Captain Gates is gone, but there will be a new dynamic that comes with Stana Katic’s character getting to be in a new position of power.

2. Is Alexis more involved in solving cases? It sounds somewhat like it, and like Nathan Fillion and Molly Quinn are going to be spending more time working together this time around.

3. There’s a very brief shot in here of new cast member Toks Olagundoye, who is playing Hayley Shipton, a security specialist coming over from Scotland Yard. She’s got a knack for solving cases using what we’ll call “unconventional methods.”

4. There is a ton of action, and apparently a few surprises that will change just about everything.

The new season, as the video below highlights, will premiere on Monday, September 21 at 10:00 p.m. Eastern. We have a hard time thinking that this will be the last sneak peek that we have a chance to see.
