ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 8 debate: When could new promo with Stana Katic, Nathan Fillion air?

If you’re like us, then you are probably really starting to feel the need for something more “Castle“-related from ABC. Monday is going to be August 31, which is only a matter of three weeks away from when the show will officially premiere on the network.

So far, we’ve gotten a number of different story teases and casting reports, but there is one thing that we’re still waiting for: An official promo featuring new footage. The only video that the network has released so far was some confusing promo featuring past footage of Rick (Nathan Fillion) as a private investigator.

Will this pattern change soon? We’re inclined to believe so, given that time is of the essence, and it would be tremendously bizarre to us for ABC to just not release anything related to “Castle” within the next seven days or so. They’ve got to show more of the show’s trademark humor, what Beckett (Stana Katic) is up to now that she is a Captain, and hopefully a fun Ryan / Esposito moment for fans of these guys. There’s a lot to promote, but only so little time to do it. The show could also use some extra promotion this year given that it is up against “Blindspot,” the heavily-promoted new entry over on NBC that will probably premiere to big ratings.

If it does help to make the wait for season 8 news a little easier, we’ve got below (via Yahoo! TV) the official gag reel for the show’s seventh season. That is going to be available on DVD on September 1, for those of you who are serious collectors and want the episodes at your disposal all around the clock.
