‘Hawaii Five-0’ season 5 spoilers: ‘Dexter’ alum Julie Benz cast in important new role

Julie Benz has really had a chance to take on a variety of different climates over the course of her career on TV. On “Dexter,” she had a chance to film mostly in Los Angeles (though the show was set in Miami). Meanwhile, for “Defiance” she goes from hot to cold out in Toronto.

Now, she’s heading to Hawaii! According to a new report coming in right now from TVLine, Benz is going to be appearing on an upcoming series of episodes on “Hawaii Five-0” season 5, playing a part that is described by executive producer Peter Lenkov as the following:

“She’s on loan from the San Francisco Police Department and she’s going to end up, we think at least, having a relationship with Chin Ho … Maybe there’s going to be a romance there.”

Hooray for a Chin Ho romance! This seems like a fun story for Benz to take on, though we do wonder just how this relationship is going to work when it comes to Daniel Dae Kim’s character. After all, if she is on loan, you have to think that sooner or later she is going to leave. Meanwhile, the same thing could be said for Benz given some of her other commitments.

Who knows? Maybe this is going to be a fun story for however long it lasts on the air. If nothing else, maybe this is something that could set up an endgame for Chin Ho; she could potentially come back to Hawaii someday, or maybe he would look to move elsewhere.
