Did ‘Devious Maids’ improve its season 4 renewal odds with latest ratings?
We have been tracking the status of “Devious Maids” over the course of the past several months, mostly because we known that it is a beloved cable show that just so happens to be firmly on the ratings bubble. The fact that Lifetime has been known to cancel things without proper endings probably raises suspension even more about what could happen.
So what did the latest episode draw? Overall, the show’s season 3 finale on Monday did show a marked improvement, as it posted a 0.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic (the most important metric to advertisers) to go along with a season-high 1.53 million viewers. The demo rating tied for the best number the show has received this season, at least if we are rounding off to tenths.
Now, are these numbers good enough to justify more of the show? It’s hard to say, but we do at least thing that they are a good sign that the show did have a lot of viewer attention when it comes to the story about Sebastien and the murders. Viewers who may have previously recorded the show watched live to see what happened, and if most of these viewers flocked to Lifetime next year, there wouldn’t be much to worry about.
We imagine that we’ll hear a decision from the network one way or another over the course of the coming weeks, but for now, “Devious Maids” can at least celebrate that the show did end strong, and did not go out with a whimper.
