‘Rizzoli & Isles’ season 6, episode 11 review: Jane and Maura head to California
There are a couple of different ways that you can look at Tuesday night’s new episode of “Rizzoli & Isles.” From one vantage point, this was a really good way to try to set up the summer finale and some of the events that have happened to Jane. The investigation into what happened with the fire is obviously something that will be explored further at some point in the near future.
As for the other events of tonight’s episode in Los Angeles, the big thing that we can really say about it is that it was a change-up. Typically you are never going to see anything this series-altering away from home, and there is really never a reason why characters from Boston involved in law enforcement should really be out there in the first place. The only real reason that this worked to begin with is just because there were some fun moments, including seeing more of Jane’s obvious hatred for the west coast.
Also, this story had a nice bit of irony to it given that “Rizzoli & Isles” films in Los Angeles, and it had to be nice for the cast to not have to pretend to be somewhere else for a change and actually use their surroundings.
Some of the side story with Frankie and Angela had their fun little moments here and there, though for the most part we do wish that they were given more to do. This is a show that is trying to accomplish a variety of different things, in between character development and solving a case. Sometimes they mix well, and sometimes there is something missing. For at least some of Tuesday’s episode, the story felt a little uneven. Grade: B.
