‘Ballers’ season 2: Premiere date speculation, more for Dwayne Johnson series
If you enjoyed watching “Ballers” on HBO over the course of the past several weeks, you may have a certain pit in your stomach now that it’s over. The show did get a ten-episode first season (pretty good for a comedy on this particular network just starting out), but now you’re left in a holding pattern for at least nine months or more until you can get your hands on some new episodes.
Schedule-wise, there is really no way that the second season could premiere before next summer. Even if star Dwayne Johnson was not busy on a number of other big projects, there are some other variables to consider here. First and foremost, HBO already has a great lineup in the spring with “Game of Thrones” plus “Silicon Valley” and “Veep.” There’s no real room for it.
The only question mark if the show does return in the summer is what the network will pair it with? For example, “The Leftovers” was moved to fall, and “True Detective” season 3 will probably not be ready by then, given that we have almost no indication that HBO and Nic Pizzolatto are even working on it yet. Luckily, “Ballers” proved that it really does not need to have a huge show before it to perform well. It delivered very good ratings this summer, and we feel that it was fairly independent of its lead-in, which probably received at least somewhat of a decent audience.
Ultimately, the biggest draw of the series is going to be its star, given that Johnson continues to do feature films and has a huge fan-base. As long as he continues to be active and the show is promoted, we don’t see the story of Spencer stopping anytime soon.

They should have shot more episodes for season 1 and just divided them. I don’t like such a long hiatus, it can kill the vibe of the show

The sooner the better, since movies are awful these days and im completely sick and tired of super hero regurgitated crap, shows like ballers is really the only way to get good entertainment. Shows like ballers should be filling the gaps of the big shows like game of thrones and true detective, to make the long wait a little more easer to swallow. Season one exceeded my expectations of what i thoght it was going to be. I look forward in seeing what happens next on the show

Great show!! Wish the episode was longer. Every time i watched Ballers i wish there was another 30 minutes. should make the episode an hour long instead of 30 minutes.. But i would watch it either way…

I know this won’t happen. However, I would like to see it return in the spring. Also, more about the game, a little less about the jump-offs….
