‘Fear the Walking Dead’ episode 2 preview: What’s next for Cliff Curtis, Kim Dickens, cast

Poster -Tonight, AMC presented to us the series premiere of “Fear the Walking Dead,” a show that we feel already is somewhat of a pleasant surprise. We figured that it would be strong (despite having kind of a weak title), but we appreciate the environment and tone of the show. It’s more character-based storytelling, much like “The Walking Dead”, and there is something fascinating about watching all of these characters deal with impending doom.

One of the big themes of this episode will be preparing for the worst, and then also figuring out just what to do with Nick, a guy who has already experienced some of the worst when it comes to the early days of the zombie apocalypse. Unfortunately, part of the problem here is that he is an addict, and his history makes him far from the easiest person to believe (though we imagine that Travis and Madison may be doing so now).

The synopsis below via TV Guide does give you some brief insight, even if it nothing too substantial:

“As Madison struggles to keep Nick from crippling withdrawal, Travis ventures out to find his son before Los Angeles falls.”

Moving forward, we feel for the most part that one of the biggest keys to the show’s success is going to be its pacing, and creating a way to show that this invasion is as insane as you would hope that it would be … but not too soon. Also, giving great material to your leads in Cliff Curtis and Kim Dickens, who were particularly great in the premiere and set the bar high for what is coming up next.
